Two Officers Charged with DUII in Separate Incidents

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Two members of the Portland Police Bureau were recently arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants (DUII).

On November 6, 2010, at 11:18 p.m., Officer Joshua Sparks a three-year veteran of the Bureau, was arrested and charged by the Washington State Patrol for Driving under the Influence of Intoxicants. Officer Sparks was stopped by a WSP Trooper for going 72 mph in a 60 mph zone.

On November 14, 2010, at approximately 9:00 p.m. Officer John Shadron, an eleven-year veteran of the Portland Police Bureau, was arrested and charged by the Gresham Police Department for Driving under the Influence of Intoxicants.

Shadron was involved in a collision with another vehicle in the area of Southeast Salquist Road and Southeast Orient Drive in Gresham. Gresham Police were dispatched to investigate the collision and arrested Shadron for DUII.

There were no injuries to either Shadron or the driver of the other vehicle and there were no passengers in either vehicle.

Both officers have been placed in an off-street assignment in the Telephone Report Unit pending the DUII investigation and internal review process.

Add to that Dennis Parson, Marion County Jail Deputy, alleged to have nailed a guy in a car @ a 55mph stoplight down the street from said Jail while hella drunk. I still love my beer but believe, if drug prohibition is to continue, the 21st Amendment should be repealed (add tobacco to the list; Schedule I; no medical value). Millions of people still continue to DUII everywhere despite all the strict laws and consequences.
