(Corvallis, Oregon) - The Oregon State wrestling team visited No. 2 Boise State Saturday and wrestled the Broncos to an 18-18 tie to open the 2010-11 season. On Tuesday, the Beavers were moved up five spots in the NWCA/USA Today Division I Coaches Poll, to No. 17.

Oregon State dropped the first 14 points to the Broncos before winning five straight bouts to take an 18-14 lead. Only a major decision on the final bout of the night kept the Broncos from losing at home in the 18-18 tie.

The Beavers began the season ranked 22nd in the preseason poll and remained at that spot last week. OSU received 90 points this week, and is just shy of No. 16 Michigan, which received 104 points.

Boise State, meanwhile, dropped to No. 5 nationally. The Beavers and Broncos are two of the four teams from the Pacific-10 Conference in the rankings this week. Arizona State is No. 18 and Cal Poly is ranked 25th.

Oregon State will now prepare for another top-25 matchup this weekend when the Beavers make the trek to Columbia, Mo., on Sunday. The Beavers square off against Hofstra at 10 a.m. PT. The Pride are receiving votes in this week’s poll but do not rank in the top 25.

After taking on Hofstra, OSU will go up against host Missouri at 2:30 p.m. The Tigers are six spots ahead of the Beavers at No. 11 and take an 0-1 mark into Sunday’s competiton.

Live stats will be available for the Missouri match, but not against Hofstra. To access live stats, visit osubeavers.com.
