(BEAVERTON, Ore.) - A fast moving fire raced through a Beaverton home this afternoon, injuring a woman and toddler who were home at the time of the fire.

A neighbor called 9-1-1 at 2:35 pm reporting flames coming from the windows of a home located in the 6800 block of SW 169th Place in Beaverton.

Firefighters from TVF&R's Cooper Mountain Station 69 arrived several minutes later to find a neighborhood cloaked in thick smoke and large flames belching from the front windows and doors of a home.

Firefighters found a woman and two year old child sitting outside the home. The woman assured firefighters that no-one else was in the home and crews pulled two lines from nearby fire engines and began attacking the fire.

Other firefighters immediately began caring for the woman and child, who were transported to Providence Saint Vincent Hospital suffering from smoke inhalation. None of the 30 TVF&R firefighters who responded were injured.

The fire spread quickly through the home before firefighters arrived, and it took more than half an hour for firefighters to get the flames under control. The home suffered extensive fire, heat, smoke and water damage to more than half of the structure.

A team of TVF&R fire investigators is on-scene working to determine the cause of the fire. Five people live in the home and will be staying with friends and family until the damage can be repaired.
