Two Reynolds High Students Arrested on Weapons Offense

(TROUTDALE, Ore.) - Troutdale Police arrested two male Reynolds High students after a gun was reported and discovered near a restaurant over the weekend.

Police say the freshman and a junior students were arrested Tuesday, over the firearm that was discovered behind a dumpster at El Tapatio Restaurant on Sunday, November 11th.

Andrea Watson with Reynolds High says they take student safety and incidents involving weapons very seriously.

"The security and student management staff worked closely and cooperatively with school resource officers at Reynolds High School to notify and assist authorities. Appropriate actions, such as notification of authorities, investigation and student discipline were taken," she said, adding that the details related to student discipline are protected student rights.

Watson says citizens who come forward with information and reports of suspicious activities and potential crimes are to be commended, as such actions contribute to safe communities.

"In this case, students, staff and community reports contributed to the rapid arrests."

At this time, Watson says, there is no evidence that a weapon was brought into the school building.

"Administrators, school resource officers and student management staff are monitoring the facts of the investigation and will continue to take any and all appropriate actions to maintain a safe learning environment for all students."
