Impaired Driver Crashes Vehicle Into House in Salem

(SALEM, Oregon) - Last night The Salem Police Department responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident involving a 2009 Subaru Legacy 4-door sedan that had crashed into a mobile home in the 4200 block of Eden St SE. The two occupants of the vehicle fled the scene on foot.

It was determined that the vehicle had been traveling southbound on Lancaster Dr SE when it left the roadway and crashed into a fire hydrant sheering it off. The vehicle proceeded to strike a street sign and fence post as it traveled through a yard and collided with a mobile home. The impact collision was of sufficient force to shift the house 2-3 feet off of its foundation.

A female resident inside the mobile home was uninjured, but was trapped inside. It took Salem Fire Department personnel approximately 20 minutes to rescue the resident. The mobile home was determined to be unstable and unsafe to occupy due to the damage the accident had caused. An officer observed one of the suspects running from the scene. A perimeter was established and K-9 teams were brought in to search for both suspects. The suspects were found hiding near a fence and inside a patch of briar bushes. The suspects were identified as Lacey Crossland (Driver), 23 years of age, a Salem resident.

Crossland was charged with 1. DUII; 2. Reckless Driving; 3. Failure to Perform the Duties of a Driver involved in Property Damage; and 4. Reckless Endangering. Crossland's blood/alcohol content was .14%. The passenger, Amanda Coleman, 22 years of age, a Turner resident, was charged with Failure to Perform the Duties of a Witness and Resisting Arrest. Both suspects were taken to the Marion County Correctional Facility.
