(CORVALLIS, Ore.) - Corvallis Police made an arrest in a case involving Aggravated Theft and Criminal Mistreatment of residents in a local assisted living facility. Sergeant Joel Goodwin with Corvallis Police, says the department began an investigation into a report of theft of money and several pieces of jewelry from a resident of Stoneybrook Assisted Living in Corvallis on October 17th. Goodwin says that during the course of the investigation, the officers identified 20-year old Kristy J. Belcher, an employee at the time of the theft, as the suspect. Belcher is alleged to have sold some of the stolen items to local pawn shops, which in turn assisted law enforcement in recovering several items. A search warrant was granted through the Benton County Circuit Court for Belcher's residence at 34505 Riverside Drive SW, which was executed Tuesday. Many of the items stolen were recovered at her residence, according to Corvallis Police Lieutenant Dave Henslee, including a ring valued at approximately $15,000. The total value of items stolen is approximately $25,000, Henslee added. Belcher was arrested and charged with Aggravated Theft I, Theft I, and Criminal Mistreatment. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact Officer Mark Smith at the Corvallis Police Department at 766-6924. Reference Corvallis Police Department Case # 07C06028. It may seem harsh but this is just one of many reasons I hope I never end up in one of these places. They seem to hire the scum of the earth and every person I have talked to who lives in an assisted living facility hates and despises it with a passion.. they are miserable there, the houseplants are treated better than the residents (and 75% of the houseplants die). To those involved in such work who are not the scum of the earth I can only say you owe people like this young woman for the impressions most have. Hopefully she will not see freedom for at least 10-15 years. Give her a nice long time to think of how stupid and scummy her actions were. I bet her parents are so proud! Ah well...
