Reefer Madness in Obama's White House

(MOLALLA, Ore.) - I am completely flummoxed by the complete u-turn made by our president regarding medical marijuana. Nadelman in the NY Times on 7 November points the artillery and fires, what's going on? In October 2009 he defended the use of medical marijuana and he promised his smoking public that he "would not use the justice department resources to override state laws on the issue". I can not imagine that being a flat-out lie but he surely has some answering to do.

On that basis, 16 states and Washington D.C. have legal medical marijuana but the DEA, Treasury Dept, IRS, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, have let their alcohol besotted hell hounds loose on unsuspecting legal growers and users of a highly safe medicine.

The United States attorneys also under the influence of 'ardent spirits' have joined in the egregious rapacious rampage against mostly sick, disabled medical patients with no mercy, putting them at the mercy of the Mexican drug black marketeers. They seem to be targeting anyone or any organization which might have a scintilla of interest in supplying medical marijuana to sick patients.

The concurrently federal statement that "as a Schedule one drug (Like heroin or cocaine) has no currently acceptable medical use in treatment in the United States". This is in the face of the federal marijuana "POT FARM" in Mississippi. The six or so federally permitted users of medical marijuana supplied by the federal government, the fact that the U.S. govt. owns the patent for the use of marijuana for cancer and the FDA approved use by prescription of Marinol or THC, the chief chemical in marijuana.

Marijuana if taxed like alcohol and tobacco; its two main competitors, would erase every state's tax deficiency and most of that of the U.S. govt. Instead we send the money to the Mexican millionaire cartels.

Based on Obama's now ignored promise of 2009, millions of sick patients are using medical marijuana and it is a major industry in most states, legal or not, with several thousands grow sites and dispensaries.

OK Obama, let's hear it for Kona Gold and Maui Wowie, your old friends in Hawaii.

Medical marijuana, and all marijuana should be legal! It is helpful to people for pain reduction and other maladies, plus marijuana can be a much less harmful recreational drug than liquor, heroin, crack, and cocaine. Great book on medical marijuana: MARIJUANA - Guide to Buying, Growing, Harvesting, and Making Medical Marijuana Oil and Delicious Chocolates to Treat Pain and Ailments by Mary Bendis. This book has great recipe for marijuana oil and tasty, yummy chocolates!

Thanks for the article. I am afraid that corporations/bankers/etc run things, and they need marijuana to be illegal. Since they own D.C. and the media, ya might just wanna keep buying from the mexican drug cartels...its safer.

I'm convinced the President and his administration are attempting to drum up support to get the federal government out of marijuana enforcement. The quickest way to drum up support against the federal government is a crackdown. Unfortunately the disenfranchisement of your average marijuana activist is at an all time high. With the "Tax and regulate marijuana in a manner similar to alcohol" petition to WhiteHouse.gov receiving more signatures than any other and yet going virtually ignored by this administration is extremely disheartening. However what I believe the message is: "If you want the federal government to stop enforcing marijuana law - change marijuana law." That's why we need to put pressure on our representatives to pass H.R. 2306 - The Ending Federal Prohibition of Marijuana Act of 2011. If your representatives don't support it ensure they know you won't be voting for them in the coming election.
