(SALEM, Ore.) - The archives of the Oregon Jewish Museum and Center for Holocaust Education includes testimonies about the Second World War and the Holocaust from soldiers, liberators and survivors. Some of these stories have been put into a traveling exhibit that is on display until November 28 in the Oregon State Capitol’s Galleria.

The study of the Holocaust and the sharing of stories keep alive the memory of the millions who were killed. Such remembrance bears witness to the horrors of the Nazi camps and raises a powerful moral and political voice against acts of racism, injustice and cruelty wherever and whenever they occur.

The exhibit is part of the Capitol History Gateway project and is sponsored by the Oregon State Capitol Foundation.

The Salem Veterans of Foreign Wars 661 Uniform Display Museum has supplemented the exhibit with seven service uniforms worn by Jewish soldiers in WWII. They have graciously supplied some WWII memorabilia to display as well.

Each uniform is accompanied by a one-page biography of the person who wore it and two uniforms are very rare for their collection – one a Jewish Infantry Brigade Group of the British Army belonging to Sgt. Israel Tal and the Women Airforce Service Pilot (WASP) uniform of Enid Fisher.

To learn more of the stories preserved by this exhibit, come to the Capitol Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. This exhibit is free and open to the public.

For more information about the Capitol, please call Visitor Services at 503-986-1388 or see .
