(SALEM, Oregon) - Manuel Garcia-Ceja was extradited from Mexico yesterday and booked into the Marion County Jail. Garcia-Ceja has been indicted for Attempted Murder, Assault I, Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Assault 4 stemming from the July 20, 2006 attack on his estranged girlfriend. Garcia-Ceja fled to Mexico shortly after committing the crime. Manuel Garcia-Ceja was wanted for an incident that occurred in the 2400 block of Coral Ave NE on July 20, 2006 when he allegedly stabbed an estranged girlfriend several times. The victim survived the stabbing. Salem Police Lt. Dave Okada says officer's attempts to locate Manuel were unsuccessful and investigators received credible information that he had fled to Mexico. Okada says 29-year old Manuel Salvador Garcia-Ceja and his 18-year old brother, Lorenzo Garcia-Ceja, were wanted in connection with a Salem Homicide. . Mexican Authorities, in cooperation with the United States Department of International Affairs, the FBI, the Salem Police Department and the Marion County District Attorney's Office, apprehended Garcia-Ceja along with his younger brother, Lorenzo Garcia-Ceja (DOB 07/16/1991), on June 3rd in Zamora, Michoacan, Mexico. Lorenzo Garcia-Ceja is wanted for the May 26, 2009 murder of Montez Bailey, as well as the shooting of two other people, in Northgate Park in Salem. Lorenzo Garcia-Ceja also fled to Mexico shortly after the murder. It is expected that Lorenzo Garcia-Ceja will also be extradited to the United States in the near future to answer to his charges.
