A SALEM WOMAN IS SHAKEN BUT UNHARMED AFTER BEING KIDNAPPED AND SURVIVING A VIOLENT ARMED ROBBERY THURSDAY NIGHT AT A SALEM MOTEL

SALEM POLICE LT. DAN DIETZ SAYS TWO MASKED MEN, ONE ARMED WITH A RIFLE, ENTERED THE COZZY INN ON FISHER ROAD NE AROUND 9:20 PM.

THE TWO MEN OVERTOOK THE NIGHT CLERK AND TAPED HER TO A CHAIR INSIDE THE OFFICE.

THE MEN STOLE ITEMS FROM THE HOTEL OFFICE DIETZ SAID.

THE WOMAN WAS ABLE TO FREE HERSELF AND CALL 911.

THE MEN FLED ON FOOT.

ANYONE WITH INFORMATION IS URGED TO CONTACT SALEM POLICE 503-588-6050.

POST OFFICES, BANKS, SCHOOLS, GOVERENMENT OFFICES, AND THE SALEM LIBRARY WILL BE CLOSED ON MEMORIAL DAY.

POLICE SAY THE VICTIM WAS ABLE TO KICK HER ATTACKER, BREAK FREE, AND GET AWAY.

THE ALLEGED ATTACKER IS DESCRIBED AS A HISPANIC MALE, IN HIS MID 30`S, 5`5 TO 5`8, 150 POUNDS, WITH A MUSTACHE AND SMALL PATCH OF HAIR UNDER HIS BOTTOM LIP.

ANYONE WITH INFORMATION ON THE SUSPECT OR HIS WHEREABOUTS IS URGED TO CONTACT THE MARION COUNTY SHERIFF`S OFFICE AT 503-540-8007
