Shocking Torture Video from Darfur

Another U.S. supported government caught camera torturing boys.

(UMSAUNA, South Darfur / PORTLAND, Or) - This video smuggled out of Umsauna, South Darfur, shows government soldiers (GoS) beating and torturing innocent civilians, asking them where JEM leaders are located.

young residents in Umsauna, Darfur.

After two days of a deadly battle, fighters from the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) managed to claim Umsauna back from the GOS, 5 days ago - the town is now in their full control.

On-ground sources confirmed earlier today, that the GOS 106th infantry battalion lined more than 87 vehicles and are ready roll into Umsauna tonight.

Darfur has seen a massive increase in violence.

Several arrests of citizens in Nyala reportedly, were based on suspicion of belonging to rebel parties specifically JEM.

The targeted violence has many innocent families fleeing into neighboring displaced/refugee camps. These camps are already suffering extreme shortages of water and food.

A spokesperson representing refugees in the Kalma camp, in South Darfur, said 480 families found their way to the camp as government soldiers battled it out with the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) in places like Sharq Jebel Marra and Shangil Tobayl.

Hussein Abu Alsharati, who leads the camp, reportedly said that people there are narrowly surviving conditions described as extreme and difficult. He also stated that nobody has offered assistance to them.

Bound youths are beaten with a stick, visible in this
freeze frame from the video. These types of acts are
clearly a violation of international law. The children are
civilians.

She says she has the enormous fortune of learning from the best; every person around her, and the amazing strength and fortitude of those she has never met but will always strive to listen to. "I continue to work and write because I believe in the power of community and the power of one, both contradictory to each other and yet can move together in a very powerful way. I feel a responsibility to use my place, freedoms and connections here in the US to stand up and yell for those who need my voice and actions. I have seen such strength in my fellow humans that I cannot even begin to comprehend, they have traveled distances, have gone without food, water, shelter and safety for days and weeks at a time. I have a responsibility as a fellow human to put our common humanity before anything else. Everyone deserves to look towards tomorrow, to dream of a safe future and to have a peaceful present." This video is disgustingly horrible. It's more more reason why something needs too be done in Sudan ASAP. Finally a movie director like Uwe Boll has taken a stand and put the word out that Darfur is a problem. His film Attack On Darfur is a visually provocative art film that isn’t aimed at pleasing critics, but informing others about the harsh realities in Sudan. http://bit.ly/9Een8H

The U.S. doesn't "support" the Islamic Republic of Sudan. It has called for an end to the mistreatment of Darfurians and supported the indictment of Bashir.

Editor: Gina, Scott Gration most certainly did put the U.S. behind Bashir, by funding the elections.  There was a big uproar over it.: Apr-09-2010: Gration's Political Ponzi Scheme Against Sudan - Alysha Atma & Scott Morgan Salem-News.com

I believe it was taken via a phone, they are speaking Arabic.

Why is the sound on the video distorted?

Editor:We're working on it, sorry...
