(SALEM, Ore.) - The Salem Fire Department responded to 365 Commercial St NE at approximately 3:00 PM on Thursday, May 24th, 2007 to rescue an injured man on top of a building.

Deputy Fire Marshal Jeff Mack says the first crews on scene found a person injured on top of a building.

"Due to the limited access to the roof the firefighters had to use alternative means to extract the injured person from the roof."

He says a ladder truck was brought to the scene in downtown Salem where the man was located on the roof of one of the city's historic buildings on Commercial St. NE.

Working together, the fire rescue crews were able to secure the patient to a platform and lower him to the ground. "The patient was then transported for further medical attention."
