(MADRAS, Ore.) - Six people were injured, some seriously, in a two-vehicle head-on crash Saturday afternoon on Highway 97 just south of Madras near Hall Road.

Oregon State Police Troopers on the scene say some names and other information may not be released until Sunday while OSP troopers continue the investigation and work to confirm identities and their medical conditions.

OSP Sergeant Don Wagner says around 3:15 p.m. a Nissan pickup with camper was northbound on Highway 97 when it crossed the center line and collided head-on with a silver passenger car.

"After impact, the Nissan overturned onto its side and the passenger car came to a stop on the side of the highway. Troopers were told by local emergency responders that there were a total of seven patients transported to various area hospitals for treatment."

Wagner says Highway 97 was closed until about 5:00 p.m. in both directions.

OSP troopers from Madras and Prineville were assisted at the scene by Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, Madras Police Department, Madras Fire Department and ODOT.
