(BAGHDAD, Iraq) - Iraqi police say they have found the body of a man with gunshot wounds to the head and chest that is wearing a U.S. military uniform. The body, was found on Wednesday in the Euphrates River in the town of Mussayab south of Baghdad. An Iraqi police spokesman said there were bullet wounds to the torso and head of the body, which was wearing U.S. Army-issue pants and boots and had a tattoo on the left arm. The U.S. military said it was investigating reports that a body had been found in a canal in the area but could not confirm the information. Since May 12th, U.S. troops and Iraqi forces have been searching for the three American soldiers abducted during an ambush of their patrol near Mahmoudiya, 20 miles south of Baghdad. General David Petraeus, the commander of U.S. forces in Iraq, said last Friday he believed at least two of the three missing soldiers were still alive.
