May-08-2008 08:00TweetFollow @OregonNews Salem, Get Ready: It's SHOW-BIZ Folks!Bonnie King Salem-News.comTake the "work" out of networking today. The Salem Chamber's biggest networking event of the year opens at 3 o'clock this afternoon at the Oregon State Fair & Expo Center... Show-Biz!
(SALEM, Ore.) - Over 200 businesses under one roof - a spectacular showcase of products and services with something for everyone, is ready to burst into action for one day only, today! There are plenty of reasons to be come to the Salem Area Chamber of Commerce's biggest show of the year. Convenient parking, product demonstrations, door prizes, kid care and lots of great food, all upon a completely carpeted exhibition hall. Kyle Sexton, of the Salem Chamber, says "Scores of door prize opportunities and special activities happen at Show-Biz. One and all will benefit from seeing and hearing about the area’s products, services, restaurants, industries, attractions and organizations. Many exhibitors will have products for sale during the show too." Show-Biz is the valley's largest business trade show, appearing today only, Thursday, May 8, from 3 to 8:30 PM at the Oregon State Fair & Expo Center, Jackman Long Building in Salem. Admission is $5 per person; ages 12 and under are free. "The trade show environment is one of creating an opportunity for human contact. The exhibits create an environment conducive for people to meet each other to conduct business under unusually fun circumstances," Sexton adds. Far beyond the creatively painted and brightly illuminated exhibit materials placed on the trade show floor, there will be many networking opportunities with Salem area businesses. On the showroom floor, potential customers, clients and community members there to have a good time will enjoy getting to know businesspeople one on one, not just with inanimate objects like displays, graphics, products or sales literature. Show-Biz is a great opportunity for human contact, an environment for people to meet each other and learn more about Salem and what our area has to offer. The dynamics of an event like this are intensified when compared to most any other forms of corporate business communications. This is for the most part due to the other exhibitors all competing for the attention, time and consideration of show attendees, prospects and customers. Each exhibit demonstrates the kind of company they are, including its products, people and business policies. A complete image of Salem's businesses are presented the moment you enter the Jackman Long building and walk toward an exhibit on the show floor. Under the bright lights, flashing signs, product presentations and sales people wearing their best welcoming smiles, the perception of the image of each company is created. Who our businesses are, what they stand for and how they appear to do business is projected and vividly on display for all to see. The Salem Area Chamber of Commerce will conduct live interviews with businesses throughout the event with several monitors placed around the show that will have the sound available. A Kids Fun Center is provided by the YMCA, Cascade Surge Soccer and Organic Fresh Fingers, providing more activities for the kids this year, and giving parents a more relaxed atmosphere to stroll from booth to booth. Exhibitors will have the chance to participate in a two-hour networking opportunity before the doors open to the public. Networking will take place from 1-3pm. This will allow everyone to get the most out of this outstanding business to business opportunity. See you there!
