Bandon Woman Dies in Crash West of Coquille

The crash happened on Highway 42S.

(BANDON, Ore.) - Police say a 67-year old Bandon-area woman died Thursday night in a single vehicle crash on Highway 42S west of Coquille.

Oregon State Police troopers from the Coos Bay Area Command office are continuing the investigation.

OSP Senior Trooper Fred Dunlap says the crash happened last night at approximately 7:50 p.m.

A 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser driven by 67-year old Darlene Victory Weathers of Bandon, was traveling eastbound on Highway 42S near milepost 15 when Ms. Weathers failed to negotiate a left-hand curve for an unknown reason and crashed into the westbound guardrail.

She was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Darlene Weathers was wearing her safety belt and her car's airbag deployed.

The highway was closed for approximately 2 1/2 hours.

OSP was assisted at the scene by Coquille Police Department, Coquille Fire Department, Bandon Police Department, Coos County Medical Examiner, and ODOT.
