(BURNS, Ore.) - A Burns-area man died late Friday night when he was ejected from his station wagon after failing to negotiate a curve on Highway 78 east of Burns.

According to Oregon State Police Senior Trooper Tim Thomas, Friday at approximately 11:00 p.m. a 2000 Subaru Forester station wagon driven by 28-year old Ronnie E. Patteeuw was eastbound on Highway 78 near milepost 4 when it failed to negotiate a sharp left curve at the intersection with Airport Road.

"The Subaru drove straight into a culvert and rolled at least once coming to rest on its top. As the vehicle rolled, Mr. Patteeuw was ejected," Thomas said.

Harney County paramedics responded and pronounced Mr. Patteeuw deceased at the scene. Safety restraint use information is not available.

There are no known witnesses to the crash.

OSP troopers from the Burns worksite are continuing the investigation.

Burns Police Department and Harney County Sheriff's Office assisted at the scene.
