(SAINT HELENS) - A 44-year-old Columbia County man is dead following a single-vehicle ATV crash near Rainier last night.

Jeff Dickerson with the Columbia County Sheriff's deputies were called out just before 11:00 p.m. Friday Night to a report of an ATV that had gone off the road on Orr Road in the Rainier area.

"Deputies arrived and located a single crash victim."

Dickerson says deputies began CPR on the victim, but Brian Matthew Roth of St. Helens was eventually pronounced dead at the scene.

"Preliminary information available to investigators is that four other subjects were accompanying the deceased on separate recreational vehicles when the crash occurred," Dickerson said.

"No cellular service was available in the area and one of the riders went for help and summoned emergency services."

Columbia County deputies are continuing the investigation into the crash.

Alcohol and speed are both believed to be contributing factors to the crash.
