(MADISON, VietNamNet Bridge) - Veterans and members of the US-based Madison Quakers charity organization on March 27 evening played violin, flute, guitar and mandolin to raise funds for Agent Orange victims in the central province of Quang Ngai. For the past 16 years, Roy Mike Boehm, a US veteran quietly came to Vietnam’s Quang Ngai province to play violin to pray for the souls of the victims of the My Lai massacre. Roy Mike Boehm and his friends in the Madison Quakers have returned to Quang Ngai many times, wishing to heal the wounds of war in this land. “As long as I’m still alive, I will continue raising fund to help poor people in Quang Ngai and share the pain of AO victims,” said Roy Mike Boehm. This veteran has raised over VND4 billion ($200,000) to help over 500 rural women plant crops and raise cattle and poultry. He has also raised over VND500 million dong to build 35 houses for AO victims and veterans. Roy Mike’s friends from around the world have also voluntarily come to Quang Ngai to assist locals. “Though Mike had no connection to the My Lai massacre but he felt his responsibility to do something to heal the wounds of war. Being moved by his act, I decided to go to Vietnam this year with him to do charity,” said Mike Mossman, an American. Mike Mossman’s wife and his 15-year-old son also came to Vietnam and joined the show to raise funds for AO victims.
