'Hanoi Jane' Fonda Cast as Nancy Reagan for Movie

Some political moves are just too hard to forget.

Jane Fonda betrayed American POW's in Vietnam.
Jane Fonda betrayed American POW's in Vietnam.

(WASHINGTON DC) - We live in an age of great irony. Allegiances increasingly change; nations once considered allies are viciously attacked; Americans rush to war at the urge of their government's call, and controversy brings celebrities to politics.

When the wars fade from political popularity, the Veterans come home to a different world, yet those celebrities somehow continue on without the impacts that affect those who serve.

While some celebrities have genuine motives and accomplishments in battling war and seeking peace, Jane Fonda's sincerity is measured in her complete and total absorption by yuppie values; she married one of the richest men alive and lost her passion for ending war as almost a passing interest, and now she is going to play Nancy Reagan?

In the NewsMax.com report below by Henry J. Reske, we see that the new career direction for this Vietnam War bomb straddler- who is said to have turned a note from an American POW into his Communist North Vietnamese captors, will be a very different role for Fonda. There are just some lines in this world that a person does not cross. Loyalty to a countryman in captivity is not the same as supporting the war, Fonda lost millions forever with that move, she lost me.

In what can be described only as a nontraditional casting, Jane Fonda has been picked to play Nancy Reagan in a new film about a White House butler whose 34-year career spanned the presidencies of Harry Truman and Ronald Reagan.

Variety reports that director Lee Daniels has picked the woman known as Hanoi Jane for her activism during the Vietnam War to portray Mrs. Reagan in the film β€œThe Butler.” The movie is based on a story by Washington Post reporter Wil Haygood, who chronicled the life of Eugene Allen, a butler who started at the White House in 1952 and retired in 1986.

Forest Whitaker is reported to be close to finalizing a deal to portray Allen, and Oprah Winfrey is in talks to play his wife, according to Variety. Variety reports that no cast deals are in place yet, but Daniels is finalizing financing for the film, which may start production in the summer.

Tom Baxter Jane Fonda did none of the things you claimed. Do you just enjoy mocking Vietnam veterans with lies like that? I find you and we'll talk real intensely, okay Tom? Of course you could always provide actual evidence and am sure this site would put it on, right?

It wasn’t Jane's lies that send me and thousands of miles to attack Vietnamese nor her lies that kept us there.

The facts are: Jane funded the first studies of Post Vietnam Syndrome, now known as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. This was back when the Veterans Administration was saying real men couldn’t suffer from it, only wimps. It wasn’t enough to save David Funchess, the first Vietnam Veteran judicially murdered, from dying in Old Smokey, but she tried.

Jane funded the first studies of Agent Orange / Dioxin poisoning of Vietnam Veterans, when Dow/Monsanto said it was almost an essential foodstuff.

Jane funded the first walk-in peer counseling centers for us before walk-in VA clinics existed in Florida.

But war veterans and war whimps can celebrate because of our noble war, Vietnamese children are maimed, mutilated and murdered by the dozens every year because of Agent Orange and the megatons of unexploded bombs we have polluted their land. Our gifts of death will continue for generations.

One more thing, Jane helped bring an end to the war, for which all should be thankful.

Editor:Fair enough, and for the record we cover AO contamination of the Vietnamese and the American Vets and the impacts that reach their children also.  We're also fully peace oriented as an organization.  However we are largely comprised of Veterans and this will always be a sticky issue, thanks for your comment

What a disgrace. She is a traiter to this Country. She should get a job with The Obama Administration, that is what they do best
