(MELBOURNE) - The Burmese Rohingya Community in Australia (BRCA) condemns the inhuman act of killing Muslims in central Burma from the 20th of March 2013 and would like to urge the United Nations and lnternational Communities to ungently intervene to protect Muslim minorities in Burma from a pre-planned massacre. On 20 March 2013, a heated argument between a Muslim gold shop owner and his Buddhist customers erupted, which gave the opportunity to create a killing field for Muslims in central Burma; in Meiktila first and then continued to other surrounding areas and Yamethin in 23 March 2013. The exact number of Msulims being killed since 20 March 2013 is still unknown, however the figure may reach more than 100. One religious school, more than 15 Mosques and hundreds of Muslim houses were burnt down to the ground. Among the victims, it is heartbreaking to see the children and women being burnt and brutally killed in the presence of security forces. According to eye witnesses, the security forces were just watching when the victims were being killed and burnt in front of everyone. Furthermore BRCA received the news today (25.03.2013) that Mosques from Nyaung Shwe and Pegu were under attack last night (24.$.2A13). Though there has been a state of emergency declared in the previous 4 towns, the extremist Buddhist rioters are still trying to carry their inhuman atrocities in other areas including in Yangon and the Burmese government is failing to stop the mob from violence acts. The violence is portrayed as a religious conflict from the surface; but the real scenario behind the conflict is extremely suspicious. The conflict is a result of continuous propaganda from the anti-Rohingya and anti-Muslim movement as neo-Nazi by extremist monks, Medias, local government officials and silence support from prominent democracy leaders for months. Unless extreme measurement is taken to stop the anti-Rohingya and anti-Muslim movement and instigators, Burma willnever see the fruitful democracy and be a multi-cultural and multi-racial country. We strongly condemn the atrocities committed against innocent Muslims in Burma and sincerely urge United Nationsand lnternational communities to apply effective pressure on Thein Sein's government to implement the following: o To immediately stop the killing of the innocent Muslims, burning and destroying of religious places and Muslimproperties. o To fully enforce law and order for the security of Muslims and all other ethnic minorities all over Burma. o To take proper action against the real cuprites who instigated and committed crimes against humanity. o To ensure the displaced Muslims return to their original places and towns freely and safely including Rohingya Muslims. Mohammed Anwor President Secretary
