PTSD Hormone Therapy: Anandamide: the Hormone, D-9-THC, the Surrogate

If Marijuana as THC is or can be the surrogate for the bodies natural Anandamide, I just can’t imagine why the REEFER MADNESS about Marijuana.

(MOLALLA, OR) - I must say that this is a very difficult and possibly controversial subject. However, I am not averse to jumping in with all four feet with something that interests me. My main interest here is if Anandamide, the bodies own Marijuana or D-9-THC is a hormone. At the outset, I will say that it acts like one. The word hormone is usually applied to mean “messenger” really means in Greek the equivalent of urging on, maybe incitement. At any rate it is a substance produced in one organ of the body, transmitted by blood to another organ which is stimulated or incited to do something. That comes very close to being the action of Anandamide.

Dr. Daniele Piomelli of the Neuroscience Institute in San Diego seems to disagree in that in his articles on the subject, Anandamide is produced continuously in all parts of the body but in such low doses that it has no effect.

There are many external conditions which cause increases in Anandamide which I will not discuss because you readers have heard of them. For others, it seems to be like Endorphins and Enkephalins which have “somewhat” related functions.

I’m sticking with my definition. Anandamide is produced by cells of many if not all animals, some molds and some bacteria. Anandamide stimulates the Cannabinoid receptors CB-1 in the brain and CB-2 elsewhere activating them for their various functions, which are many.

In addition to the well known medically therapeutic actions of Anandamide, AND Marijuana, especially in PTSD, Anandamide does have actions on the Pituitary gland which I feel gives it the status of hormone.

Marijuana as Delta-9-THC produces many of the same effects as Anandamide does. Whether Marijuana does this directly by its own similar chemical structure or by releasing Anandamide is not specifically known to me.

I will now present other facts to support my assertion: Estrogen, the female hormone, is secreted after stimulation through the Pituitary. Estrogen-like substances are produced by soybeans and certain yams. The usual oral dose for Estrogen therapy is from 0.625mg to 2.5mg. This is comparable to the oral dose of THC of 1.0mg to 5.0mg.

Testosterone, the male hormone, comes from its well-known source. I don’t know of any vegetable source. The usual dose by injection is about 10.0mg. I don’t think the oral dose works well.

If Marijuana as THC is or can be the surrogate for the bodies natural Anandamide, I just can’t imagine why the REEFER MADNESS about Marijuana.

ALL HAIL MARIJUANA AS A SURROGATE HORMONE!!!

There is no doubt in my mind that cannabis functions as a bliss hormone. Following a 20-year battle with celiac disease, I found I could not get back into a bliss/sensual state even with hormonal and nutritional deficiencies corrected. Thankfully, I found that vaporized cannabis (indica+sativa hybrid) fixed this last remaining problem.
