Portland Police Detectives Charge Four With Murder

Four men have now been charged in the death of one of the occupants, 55-year-old Jesus Rodriguez Garcia, who died as a result of the injuries he sustained during the robbery.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Portland Police Detectives charged four subjects Thursday in the murder of a man during a home invasion robbery that occurred on March 12, 2010.

Portland Police Bureau Detective Mary Wheat, says Portland Police Officers responded at approximately 4:10 a.m. to a call of a home invasion robbery that had just occurred in the 5700 Block of SE 72nd Avenue.

"When officers arrived, they discovered that three occupants of the home had been assaulted during the robbery. Detectives later charged four men with the robbery and all four have been in custody since their arrest," Wheat said.

These four men have now been charged in the death of one of the occupants, 55-year-old Jesus Rodriguez Garcia, who died at OHSU Hospital on March 23, 2010, as a result of the injuries he sustained during the robbery.

Mr. Rodriguez-Garcia was beaten with a blunt force object during the robbery. 40-year-old Steve Cervantes and 25-year-old Henry Townsend have both been charged with one count of Aggravated Murder.

27-year-old Tyson Wilcher and 27-year-old Joshua Butcher have both been charged with one count of Murder.

All of these suspects will be arraigned in a Multnomah County Courtroom later today.
