(SALEM, Ore.) - UPDATE: Salem Police have located the family of the 4-year old girl that was found last night. Investigators are with them at this time and further details will be released as they become available. ---------------------Original report---------------------- The Salem Police Department is searching for the parents of a 3-4 year old girl that was found wandering around in the area of Roselawn Dr NE and Burlington St NE at about 6:45 p.m. on March 18th. Officers responded to the area on a report of a small child that was wandering around the streets in the area, according to Salem Police Lt. Dave Okada. "When officers arrived in they area they found a white female child who told us that her name is Esther. Esther said she is about four years old and was wearing a demin jacket, multi-colored striped dress, and silver shoes." Okada says she was carrying a daffodil and a sprig of an evergreen shrub wrapped in a paper towel and a small red cup of rocks. "Esther was not wearing any type of jewelry or identification and did not appear to speak with any noticeable accent." Officers walked around the neighborhood with Esther hoping that she would be able to recognize her home or anybody she may know, Okada said, but had no luck. "A Child Is Missing" Alert was then activated, with calls placed to residences in the area where Esther was found. Esther has now been turned over to the Department of Human Services for care until her parents can be located. At this time Esther's parents have still not called or reported her missing. Anybody with information as to Esther's identity or that of her parents is urged to call the Salem Police Department at 503-588-6123 Articles for March 18, 2009 | Articles for March 19, 2009 | Articles for March 20, 2009 | googlec507860f6901db00.htmlQuick Links
