(SALEM) - One sleepless night after learning he was holding the winning $182.7 million Powerball® jackpot ticket, Daniel Gannon of Milwaukie claimed his prize today at the Lottery office in Salem.

Gannon, 60, matched all five numbers and the power ball number in Saturday's multi-state Powerball lottery game to win the $182.7 million jackpot.

Gannon purchased the ticket at the Safeway on SE McLoughlin in Milwaukie on Friday. He and his wife Candy were on their way to dinner and stopped at the store to use the ATM. After getting his cash, Gannon noted the size of the Powerball® jackpot. “I saw how big the jackpot was and bought a $5 quick pick,” said Gannon, who has been with PGE for 35 years. It was in the final set of numbers on his ticket that he matched the combination drawn.

When asked about his future plans, Gannon said travel was at the top of the list. “We have children all over the United States and I’ve been interested in going to Ireland,” said Gannon.

This marks the fourth Powerball® jackpot prize won in Oregon. The first was a $38.4 million prize won by a Eugene family in 1992. A Beaverton woman won $33.8 million in 1999 and in October 2005, a southern Oregon family won $340 million.

Since the Oregon Lottery® began selling tickets in April 1985, it has earned over $5 billion for public education, economic development, state parks, and watershed enhancements and salmon habitat restoration. Drawing results and game information can be found at oregonlottery.org.

I've met the family, they seem like nice people. Who could blame them for not wanting to be photographed?
