You Want the Truth? You Don't Deserve the Truth, According to Mainstream Media

We have spent $20 billion pouring weapons and arms into propping up the Malaki government in Iraq which is more than 5 times the amount dedicated to finding a cure for cancer. Make sense? Did you know this?

(JAMESTOWN, RI) - One of the most significant changes in the US in recent times is our inability to see things from another perspective, we have developed narrow minds and think there is just “our” point of view, and to a large degree media is responsible for this, because mainstream media merely acts as an echo for the official US line. Take the Ukraine and Crimea.

John Kerry and Obama repeatedly warned Russia about “respecting international law, the integrity and sovereignty of the Ukraine” but not one outlet reminded us of our clear violation of international law and lack of respect for the sovereignty of Iraq and Afghanistan. We illegally invaded those countries and occupied them for over ten years, but most importantly killed over 3 million people. When the US lectures the world should such hypocrisy be pointed out to the US public? Was wiping out a wedding party in January with a Drone, “respecting the territory and sovereignty” of Yemen?

Crimea borders Russia and most of Crimea is ethnic Russian, yet Afghanistan and Iraq are on the other side of the planet from the US, and most Americans after 10 years of war with both can’t find either on a map.

Why hasn’t the US public been told that Crimea is ethnically Russian, and that Crimea was given away by Khrushchev, some say while drunk, to the Ukraine? Why don’t you know this? Media says Russia “invaded” Crimea, but you are not told the no one has been killed and not one shot was fired. In a weekend Crimea national vote 97% voted to ally themselves with Russia with a turnout of almost 80%. Obama pronounced the election is illegal, and will not recognize the will of the people, yet we were the first nation on earth to recognize Kosovo after their vote to break from Serbia. The right of “self-determination” is the cornerstone of freedom and democracy. Why isn’t this pointed out? Is voting for independence in 1776 just reserved for the US and not Crimeans?

Why haven’t you been told there was a democratically elected leader in the Ukraine, albeit not very popular and apparently very corrupt, but elected. The US spent 5 billion dollars (which is more than the entire budget for finding a cure for cancer) supporting Ukraine opposition groups trying to overthrow a leader who was elected, while Victoria Nuland’s intercepted phone call clearly showed the US plotting for a new government. So much for democracy.

From the Russian perspective the US initiated the crises with its relentless advance of NATO, surrounding Russia with bases after promising not to do so. Russia tried to get membership into NATO but was refused by the US, and the Ukraine became a “Red Line” for Russia. If Russia was refused admission into NATO, while NATO advanced to its doorstep with military bases, what could Russia conclude? The US was orchestrating a NATO takeover of the Ukraine, and this was a bit to close, so Russia felt forced to react to protect their security.

Have you noticed how the US government supports opposition groups in many countries around the world with democratically elected leaders such as Ukraine, Venezuela, Bolivia, and others, but how quickly the US used its power and might in a coordinated effort around the country to brutally crush the “Occupy” opposition group at home? They were depicted as villains, but only wanted financial reform in banking and on Wall Street, which most Americans want. Why hasn’t media pointed out this blatant hypocrisy of stamping out opposition with brutal force here, but supporting opposition in in other countries?

A few months ago the US was on the verge of going to war with Syria, with some US leaders foaming at the mouth for war, because “someone” apparently used chemical weapons. Despite the fact the evidence appears to show the rebels used the weapons, Obama drew a “redline” and was ready to go to war. Fortunately the Russians came in to save Obama and bail us out by getting Syria to agree to rid themselves of all chemical weapons. Did Russia do a bad thing in that instance?

More importantly why wasn’t the US public been reminded the US is the biggest user of chemical weapons on the planet? We saturated Fallujah with depleted uranium, and the cancer rate in Fallujah is higher than Hiroshima.

We used “white phosphorus” on civilian areas in both Iraq and Afghanistan which the UN considers a war crime. We used Agent Orange, which is a mixture of herbicides like dioxin, one of the most toxic chemicals on earth with jet fuel, and sprayed the countryside in Vietnam killing and wounding about 400,00 with this chemical weapon, and half a million children have been born with serious birth defects. Yet despite our filthy hands, which you were not reminded of, the US was outraged at the use of chemical weapons in Syria, but was not outraged when Saddam Hussein used chemical weapons against Iran in their long bloody war. We knowingly gave Saddam Hussein the location of the Iranians who were then subjected to chemical weapons.

More and more folks are looking to alternative sources for news; is it any wonder? Thank you Salem-News for your willingness to inform and not parrot.
