According to Sergeant Jeff Allison, on March 15 2014 at approximately 5:30 p.m,, a 2008 Suzuki motorcycle operated by 47-year old James William Osborne of Grants Pass, was northbound on Highway 199 at Sauers Flat near milepost 25. Mr. Osborne was accompanied by his brother who was riding a separate motorcycle. As the motorcyclists entered a sweeping right hand curve from Sauers Flat, James Osborne lost control of his motorcycle and crossed into the oncoming southbound lane of travel.

His motorcycle sideswiped a passenger car and then continued off the west shoulder of the roadway where it impacted a tree stump.
