Why don't they love us?

And we wonder why people in the Middle East don’t appreciate what we are doing for them.

(RICHMOND, R.I.) - In January, a video surfaced showing American Marines urinating on the bodies of Afghans they had killed.

In February, American soldiers in Afghanistan "inadvertently” burned numerous copies of the Koran.

In March, an American soldier murdered 16 Afghan civilians – mostly children – in their own homes. (Witnesses say several soldiers were involved.) President Obama called this massacre “tragic and shocking” and promised "to hold fully accountable anyone responsible." The prosecution may seek the death penalty.

But Mr. Obama has expressed no shock over other massacres.

A video of one massacre is available on line (www.collateralmurder.com). Even a wounded reporter and those trying to save him were gleefully shot by American soldiers.

President Obama did not promise to hold those killers accountable, or even to investigate. On the contrary, he chose to punish a courageous young soldier suspected of blowing the whistle. Obama has held and abused PFC Bradley Manning since June 2010 even though he has not been convicted of anything. A trial is only now beginning. But nearly a year earlier, on April 21, 2011, the President of the United States announced his own decision that Manning was guilty. “He broke the law,” Obama announced.

Mr. Obama also refuses to investigate members of the previous administration for war crimes and torture. In fact Obama pressured and threatened Spain and Germany to make them drop their investigations into torture.

And we wonder why people in the Middle East don’t appreciate what we are doing for them.
