(PASO ROBLES, Calif.) - The Republican Party assumes Jesus and the Bible to be the Living Word of God. They are wrong: Jesus and the New Testament are constructs of man in support of an Institutional Religion on Earth for purposes of power whereas the domain of the Universal God extends hundreds of millions of light years beyond Earth, which by comparison reduces Earth’s Gods to virtual non-entities. Years ago a Lutheran friend was criticizing a friend of Catholic persuasion until I intervened to determine how Lutherans perceive God; i.e., Jesus. He agreed God was omniscient and omnipotent and that God is Love. “Then explain to me why your God revealed himself to an obscure Mideast tribe only, knowing it would be the cause of awful deaths for hundreds of millions of people when it was in His power to avoid the slaughter?” Rev. Malthus’ [1766-1834] theory of overpopulation and poverty causes people to live where cataclysms are likely to occur. Republicans and Religion could reduce the number of deaths they cause by encouraging, rather than denouncing birth control, which is contrary to logic and human compassion. I am not pro life nor pro choice...I see abortion as a case by case issue. But you present it here as a form of birth control...it is not.

Could somebody explain to me please if all the Christians are pure evil or just the Republican ones? Do we have separate churches for Democrats and Republicans? If no, would it be accurate to say that they're in the same religious boat and need to row on both, left and right sides in order to get the boat safely to the desired destination. Rowing only on one side would just spin it... Correct me if I'm wrong.

"Criticizing pro-lifers on religious grounds is possibly the most common, cliche, and dumb straw-man attacks on the books." A stupid arguments. The pro-life movement is based on science and reason but this writer wants to keep an untrue image of others.
Editor: We just have had a hard time watching this subject divide people and really, make young people flee the other way from Christianity. People need to mind their own business, that would be a great idea, but instead they are compelled to stick their noses in the business of others. I hope every abortion protester out there has at least two or three minority children they have adopted, preferably with major birth defects from drug use and possibly AID's, because then they might have a leg to stand on when trying to control women, a very historically over-controlled group.

Criticizing pro-lifers on religious grounds is possibly the most common, cliche, and dumb straw-man attacks on the books. Those who oppose birth control (who are far from all pro-lifers) argue on religious grounds. But it is very rare for those who actually listen to pro-life arguments (instead of just dismissing them) to here a theologically-grounded one. Abortion ends a human life that would otherwise exist. This complaint is hardly religious.
Editor: 'Pro lifers' are genuinely against the freedom that is granted to us in this nation. In a perfect world we would not need aborion, but it is an imperfect world that we live in. There are too many reasons why outlawing a woman's right to choose is a bad idea.
