One Person Dies as Police Arrest Senior Citizen on Marijuana Charges

(MULINO, Ore.) - Deputies in Clackamas County say shots were fired and a body was found as police served an arrest warrant last night on an 80-year old woman wanted on charges related to growing, posessing and delivering marijuana; an herb currently finding increasing acceptance in the country's medical and political communities.

Detective Jeffrey Green with the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office says around 10:30 p.m., two deputies went to 13262 S Macksburg Rd to attempt to take two persons into custody on arrest warrants.

"The warrants were related to an investigation in the Fall 2008 of a marijuana grow. At about 10:39 p.m. deputies reported shots fired and a person down in the residence," Green said.

"Clackamas County Sheriff's Office SWAT and detectives responded to the location. After SWAT secured the residence a female was removed from the residence via ambulance due to medical issues unrelated to the incident."

He says 80-year old Marjorie Crawford was arrested on outstanding warrants for Manufacturing, (Police terminology for growing) Delivery, and Possession of a Controlled Substance - Marijuana.

The Clackamas County Medical Examiner came to the scene and took possession of the deceased person in the residence.

The body has been transported to the Oregon Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy. The person's name will be released after positive identification is made and next of kin is notified, Green said.

The deputies involved in the incident are uninjured and have been placed on administrative leave per department policy.

Why was this warrant being served in the middle of the night in the first place? Even if they were involved in activity, the punishment for the crime should not have been death!

Tim please give us more info on this story as it comes out . It is very unclear what happened . Did the person shoot themselves or did the police shoot . In any case the fact that the police arrested an 80 year old for growing is totally crazy . I hope they get sued like the bozos in Eugene did in the early 2000s for their nightmare on 5th street pot raid . I hope the police learn harassing and arresting sick and old people do not lead to promotion but to lawsuits !

If they have been investigating this since the Fall of 2008, why did they need to make the arrest in the dark of the night and scare the poor old people to death? Did they swarm the 80 year old lady to teach her a good lesson? Sometimes they don't show a lot of good sense on making their stupid arrests!

Who'd have ever thought that you could get killed for what grows in your garden? Hasn't this gone on long enough? THIS is how our taxes are being spent- and we can change it. Shouldn't cops be protecting little old ladies from getting ripped off instead of casting them out of their homes just for growing weed? It's a surreal world. I hope roses never become illegal, those thorns can be lethal I hear.

The government has a monopoly on murder. That's the people to work for if you have a personality like jeffery dahmer or ed gein. They would've got far as government bureaucrats.

Well we can all sleep easier tonight. In 2006, half the fatal shootings in Clackamas County were by the police! I dont know the statistics for the following years.

Cops don't kill people, POLICE STATES and insane highly unpopular laws kill people. Wow basically the only people marijuana is dangerous to is the police that get (regrettably) sent (probably against their will) to come harass people about it. This didn't need to happen.
