Mar-02-2009 19:43TweetFollow @OregonNews Rush Limbaugh Slammed by New GOP Chairman SteelePolitical Perspective by Tim King Salem-News.comIt didn't take him long to backtrack, but for a short period the nation's first black GOP chairman called it the way it really is.
(SALEM, Ore.) - I am having a hard time picturing Republicans being led by an African-American political party chairman, but that's how it is these days, and it is nearly as comical as one might expect. I don't mean that party chair Michael Steele is so funny and I actually think he has shown some guts with his less than flattering comments on the country's great divide; Rush Limbaugh. Steele's description of the hateful media pundit/drug addict as "incendiary" and "ugly" is an attention grabber and worth knowing. Limbaugh recently said that he hoped Obama's plan to save the U.S. economy fails. Finally, the progressives of this land can look at a propaganda tool for the rich like Limbaugh and say, "America: Love it or leave it!" Things certainly have turned around. Regarding Steele; it seems obviously that any black politician who sides with Republicans has chosen an interesting road in life for a lack of better terms. A considerable percentage of this party's members I think very clearly, do not seek the leadership of a black politician. I'm sure some, even most, are fine with it, but others are only using Steele the same way Limbaugh is used; as a tool. Lay it on the Line In an interview Saturday night with CNN's D.L. Hughley, Steele at first elicited the typical defensive statement over Limbaugh, saying "Rush Limbaugh is an entertainer," and eventually adding the descriptions "incendiary" and "ugly" to the spokesman for angry white America. Limbaugh fired back during his program Monday, saying, "Michael Steele — you are head of the RNC; you are not head of the Republican Party." Limbaugh also said "something happened" to Steele. Gee Rush, was Steele being honest or something? The implication now was that Steele spent time on Limbaugh's program, it went to his head. It was the typical garbage that Limbaugh regularly puts out. "Now I'm just an 'entertainer,' and now I'm 'ugly' and my program is 'incendiary,'" the entertainer said. So Steele began his backward slide from a man with guts calling a spade a spade, to this: "What I was trying to say was a lot of people ... want to make Rush the scapegoat, the bogeyman, and he's not." Ayers says what it boils down to, is that there's a party that has lost two elections and is struggling to find its way out of the wilderness. He was one of several republican leaders who contradicted Limbaugh by saying that Steele is, indeed, the leader of the party. "It's in Rush's interest," Ayers said in an interview, "to keep a controversy going." I doubt Limbaugh is troubled by stirring up problems in the GOP any more than he is disturbed by dividing our country and always working on instilling anger and needless paranoia. He is loyal to himself and that is the spirit Limbaugh tries to inspire in people. A true enemy of the poor and disadvantaged people of the United States and beyond, Limbaugh's willingness to cry out for war and support the politicians who in turn support groups like Haliburton, has kept him financially sound. No person who spouts his message will ever resolve our nation's difficulties. For those of us with a conscience and that give thoughtful consideration to the talents and sincerity of the entertainers they choose, all I can say is, Rush is a band. Tim, did you forget about all the dems who voted to go to war? and to continue funding war? "supporting Soldiers but not the war", yeah those dems.
Tim King: No, I didn't and there is no excuse for how that went down. I do not think the Democrats are some innocent bunch by any means. By your last paragraph, are you inferring that people can't support soldiers without supporting the war? I'll give you credit and assume you didn't mean that. Such statements do the greatest injustice to soldiers that I can think of. I know the majority of people who are against the war still love the Americans who are serving. The people who are "pro-war" are the ones I have questions about.

I found this article entertaining. Not really useful, but that's why it's an opinion piece.

rush is a habitual drug addict and a shame to talk radio. He will ruin the GOP, and only gives an excuse for the new admin to blame their mistakes on him. It is a sad world when someone like him has an audience. Lets not hug yet Henry. As I said I go for truth, not parties. The democratic party is no better. We are being sold down a river by both parties. You will see it soon. Ron Paul, on the other hand, is gaining much popularity. The lies are unfolding, and those who have spoke truth are becoming more prominent.

Rush Limbaugh has really turned lemons into lemonade if you take the time to think about it briefly. This rhubarb is an excellent opprotunity for him. Rush is playing this perfectly. Lots of attention is being paid to his every word right now outside of his normal audience because of the so called rift in the Repub party. Now he exposes Obama's policies that Rush states make the ultimate socialist power grab. I didn't think the general public would be exposed to this concept until at least 2010. Now it's out there. If Democrats want to discuss Rush's desire to see Obama fail they run the risk of spreading the planned economic collapse concept that Rush is stating that Obama is pursuing. Also his radio program is the most profitable one in history, he needs no outside funding. Like or hate him, he is a very powerful voice for conservative issues. No one so far has been able to have any long term negative impact on him, in fact he just gets stronger.

To all: Within media circles, R.L. is known to act for dollar value of his chosen stance. That's WHY he chose it, WHY he built it in the shape known to sell, WHY he continues now-successful image. He is one of foundations of Far Right talk-radio, set up purposely, originally heavily funded, by some of same Far Right dollar-hoarders who were building other parts of GOP noise machine. IF sudden circumstance were to force reversal of his easy-flow, rapid-point/pattern it would happen faster than eye could follow... That's WHY he is considered extremely wellpaid shill by most professional journalists.

Limbaugh is an American blemish and embarrassment and someday none of you will admit that you supported him.

Rush was the biggest draw all weekend on cable news which surprises me not. He's the biggest draw every week day on the radio. Which explains the White House vitriol in response. If people are so thin skinned when one debates public policy that is counter to theirs, then you should count your lucky stars that you live in a country where you can do that.

I fail to see where the controversy exists in terms of Rush Limbaugh's (and tens of millions of other Americans. 58 million voted against him) hope that Obama's policies fail. If, as conservatives, they find socialistic policies unpalatable, hoping that 0bama’s policies fail is the only logical stance one could assume. Mike Steele's opinions are not just about what he said on a television program, but now people are seeing that he is also for gun control and affirmative action. He should resign now that he has appropriately apologized, he is not a proper fit for conservative ideology. Suprisingly many fail to see the conservative feelings most blacks observe. For example 70% voted in California against gay marriage, now why doesn't the Hollywood liberal crowd attack them instead of the Mormons? Now that is hypocrisy.

Oh please. Are people still harping about the neocons? By the way, why would you expect a Black RNC Chairman to be funny? Or is it that you think all Republicans are racist?
Gee what a great joke.
Tim King: I certainly don't think all Republicans are racist. I hope more Republicans think I'm off base on that also. Regarding the neocons, I mean who am I to harp on a group that has devastated my nation, led to the deaths of thousands of my American brothers and sisters in a war based over false information, and essentially probably ruined our chances of a peaceful world?"
securitysystem March 3, 2009 1:07 am (Pacific time)
Hey Limbaugh, what you said is great. Good Luck.
Tom March 2, 2009 11:23 pm (Pacific time)
I wonder what Limbaugh has on these Republicans that make them apologize to the likes of him.
stephen March 2, 2009 8:52 pm (Pacific time)
rush is a paid schill for the neocons, and it is getting more obvious every day. Now, people like him, and glen beck and micahel savage are losing ratings so they will copy the views of alternative news, or come up with soap opera news to keep people listening. Here is a BLACK man that I would support fully. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lqkMfToY9Pk
