An Open Letter to Congressman Chandler Over Support of War Criminals

No politicians should endorse war crimes.

Chandler needs to take a close look at what he supports.
Chandler needs to take a close look at what he supports.

(HARRISVILLE, NH) - As the United States and the United Nations press Sri Lanka for war crime violations in Geneva, a Texas congressman, Jack Kingston, saw it fit to throw his support and that of 11 other members of Congress, behind the government of Sri Lanka, orchestrators of a Genocide that claimed the lives of as many as 160,000 human beings in 2009.

Another politicians signing his name to the support of this murderous government is Ben Chandler, a Democrat from Kentucky.

The ethnic cleansing of Tamil Hindus and Christians happened at the hands of the Sinhalese Buddhist government, Sri Lankan President Majinda Rajapaksa. (See the report: Americans Praise Sri Lankan Politicians who Orchestrated Genocide )

March 1, 2012

Dear Congressman Chandler:

Your support of the Sri Lankan war criminals, as evidenced by the letter you recently penned to the President of the United States, is not just surprising, it is repulsive. That anyone would support a government that takes part in the killing of innocent children is simply not understandable to me. Rape, torture, and mass murder of civilians constitute crimes that must not go unpunished.

Is it simply that you did not do your homework? Can it be that you simply jumped onto a bandwagon initiated by a special interest group? How could you in all good conscience throw your support behind the monsters who could perpetrate such heinous deeds?

I beg you sir, to reconsider your actions. Do not lend your good name and the honor of our country to a government that would gang-rape and kill children. Please retract your signature from that letter and from all support of the government of Sri Lanka.

Sincerely,

Robert M. Collinsworth

At the same time, within these structures we criticize, are many outstanding people who make each day a better place for all those around them. They embody and personify the American spirit that is sometimes fleeting, but always present. These are some of the things Robert takes into account when writing commentary that is designed reach people, to "get them thinking" in his words, and indeed it does. First up all Stop Saying that "LTTE' is a terrorist group. Who are Mr. Bob to tell they are terrorist group. The tamil community stand behind LTTE. They are "Freedom Fighters". You are sitting in US and talk whatever you want. Did that tamil people said that LTTE is terrorist. That people facing suppressed by SL Racist Govt. You are sitting in AC room and having cup of Alcohol and enjoying life. did you ever live with that kind of situation. How they grown up this much without people support. LTTE always fight with directly Srilankan Army not with innocent sinhalese. Did you ever hear that LTTE is raped single sinhalese women. that is well organised with discipline.

Editor: Geetha, please reevaluate what this letter and intro say, this is Salem-News.com, we are not anti Tamil and in fact are continually accused of being associated with the LTTE.  I personally write endlessly about the plight of the Tamils.  I believe you read this:

Bob,
I am standing up for the truth. Not for a brutal terrorist group who suicide bombed and murdered over 80,000 innocent civilians and used civilians of their own race as a shield when they were under attack.
How many letters did you write condemning the terrorist group when they were unleashing their violence for 30 years?

That is addressed to Bob by a Sinhalese agitator who uses the name 'Common Sense', Bob never used the word 'terrorist' a single time, neither did I in the intro, OK?

Any government that would condone the rape, torture, and killing of children is a scourge on humanity and any individual who backs or supports that government becomes part of that scourge. The facts are there for those interested in learning the truth. There are, of course, those who wish those facts would simply go away.
Remember folks, children are children regardless of whether they are black, white, Tamil, Canadian, Catholic, or Jew. When a child is born it is a completely innocent being that trusts all, loves all, and deserves a chance to be a child knowing only love, peace, and a full belly.
Tim and Bonnie King deserve accolades for the work they are doing in trying to stop the insanity. I for one am grateful that there is still enough freedom in the United States that they can! Hopefully they have brought enough attention to the facts so that the UN will call the Sri Lankan government exactly what they are . . . Monsters!

Tim and Bonnie King of Salem-News.com: Thank you Colli!

Bob/Editor,
You haven't answered my simple question, "How many letters did you write condemning the terrorist group when they were unleashing their violence for 30 years?"
My conclusion is you have no idea what happened in Sri Lanka. What you write here and your "news" site has no value if you publish unsubstantiated one sided news like this. Like others who write here you are taken in for a ride by the Terror group.

Editor: You know this is a letter condemning a terrorist group, the SLA under Rajapaksa, state terrorism in its purest form.  It is sick of you to ask if we were 'there' as even Ch-4 had to work on this from abroad, when your government set out to kill all of the journalists, the message became exceedingly clear.  Anyone reading this, don't take our word for it, visit Reporters Without Borders in France, they have all of the corroborative details.

Bob,
I am standing up for the truth. Not for a brutal terrorist group who suicide bombed and murdered over 80,000 innocent civilians and used civilians of their own race as a shield when they were under attack.
How many letters did you write condemning the terrorist group when they were unleashing their violence for 30 years?

Editor: Indeed you are standing up for a government that used terrorism to kill a horrific number of people.  The Tamil people were pushed into this so-called 'terrorism' because their rights were being eliminated slow but sure by a government that is clearly of only one religion, that is Buddhist.  The Sinhalese were treated terribly under British colonial rule and the Tamils were given preferences, more were in office, they had better jobs, etc.  This is the fault of the British, not Sri Lankans, however when an ethnic 'project' like ridding Lanka of the Tamils becomes a serious endeavor, and when the president goes to a great amount of effort to "be able to" wage an attack, moving the pieces around like a chess board, then making the final move.  The British are to blame, but it was up to the Sinhalese majority to not subject anyone to an apartheid system, language elimination, etc.

This is getting old, certainly the unidentified 'Common sense' is a member of the SL government paid to run the patrol on news articles that espouse the truth and fail to pander to state terrorism.  80,000 people.... what?  First, nobody has a real tally on the civilian death count because so many records were destroyed in the ongoing onslaught that the Tamils suffered.  Out of desperation, at the end, the Tigers were pressing younger and younger people into service, no disagreement on that, but the official number killed is unknown and the people who did the killing are members of the Sri Lanka Army.  The 'human shield' element is totally misportrayed also, Tamil people love their children as much as any parents do, 'human shield' about 90% of the time, is a lie and a simplified false excuse for the murdering of civilians.  You guys need to repent, you need to be sorry, apologize, promise it will never happen again.  Then people might believe in your government again, they need to know that you comprehend your own history, it is all a hollow man game until the truth is embraced by all aides.

People who do not agree on anything Tim king has written will ceartainly not agree with what said in http://www.channel4.com/info/press/programme-information/sri-lankas-killing-fields-war-crimes-unpunished and going to be broadcast on Wednesday 14th March, 10:55pm, Channel 4.

….Sri Lanka’s Killing Fields: War Crimes Unpunished forensically examines four specific cases and investigates who was responsible. The cases are: the deliberate heavy shelling of civilians and a hospital in the ‘No Fire Zone’; the strategic denial of food and medicine to hundreds and thousands of trapped civilians – defying the legal obligation to allow humanitarian aid into a war zone; the killing of civilians during the ‘rescue mission’ and the systematic execution of naked and bound LTTE prisoners – ******featuring new chilling video footage of a 12-year-old boy who has been brutally executed******….

Sri Lanka executed a catholic priest too. Father Joseph went with surrendered combatants nearly 3 years ago and never seen again …

Bob,
Your statement "The ethnic cleansing of Tamil Hindus and Christians happened at the hands of the Sinhalese Buddhist government, Sri Lankan President Majinda Rajapaksa." indicate how poor you knowledge of Sri Lanka is. Do not misinform readers.

Editor: I wrote that intro and of course it is true, do you not get tired of standing up for ethnic cleansers?  Well do you?
