Intactivists Contingent in San Francisco Pride Parade

This year's event will feature the song, "Leave Those Babies Alone" by Ace, from the Salem-News.com Newsic Revolution album.

Anti circumcision parade

(SAN FRANCISCO) - Members of Bay Area Intactivists will march in the San Francisco Pride parade to raise awareness of the human right to genital integrity.

Bay Area Intactivist Jonathon Conte said, "We welcome all who wish to put an end to infant circumcision and other forms of forced genital cutting to join us as we carry signs and hand out goodies. More details about this event will be posted here in the future." (RSVP on Facebook)

Salem-News.com has one specific reason to be excited about the upcoming parade; a song by Salem-News.com writer and musician Agron Belica, "Ace", titled "Leave Those Babies Alone," will be featured in the Intactivist Parade - it highlights the dangers and problems relating to infant circumcision. This song, as well as Ace's second anti-circumcision song, "Circumcision is Child Abuse" are included below. Organizers say they are still trying to locate a mobile sound system. Anyone in the SF Bay Area that has one for use in the parade is encouraged to contact Jonathon Conte through his Facebook page, http://www.facebook.com/anotherjonathon, or write to the Salem-News.com news editor, Tim King, at tim@salem-news.com.

Common Questions & Answers

When is the San Francisco Pride Parade?
The 2013 San Francisco Pride Parade takes place on Sunday, June 30.

Do I have to identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender to march in the parade?
Not at all! As in previous years, the Bay Area Intactivists contingent will be extremely diverse.

Do I need to register to march with Bay Area Intactivists?
No, but if you have a Facebook account we would love it if you'd click “Attending” on this event so that we have a rough idea of how many people to expect.

Are children allowed to participate?
Absolutely! We welcome intactivists of all ages to join us.

What should I wear?
Wear shoes comfortable for walking. A hat and sunglasses are great for protection from the sun. If you have an intactivist shirt, please wear it! If you would like to purchase a shirt for the parade, you can do so from our store.

What should I bring?
Drinking water (in a plastic or metal container) and sunscreen are recommended. There is often a long wait in the parade contingent queue area so bringing food or snacks is also a good idea. If you are bringing children, consider bringing small games or other activities to keep them entertained while we wait for our turn to march. Keep in mind that anything you bring will have to be carried or pulled down Market Street.

Are wagons, strollers, or bikes allowed in the parade?
Yes! We especially love seeing them outfitted with intactivist signs or other decorations.

How long is the march?
The parade route is approximately 1.3 miles. The march itself takes about 30 minutes but our contingent must first wait for a few hours in the queue area for our turn to march.

How long will we wait in the contingent queue area?
It's difficult to know exactly. This depends on number of factors including our position in the parade and potential delays with the contingents that are marching before us. It could be 2-3 hours or more. Restrooms will be available nearby while we are waiting. There are also eateries within walking distance.

What can I expect during the parade?
We will have a variety of signs (both large and small) available for intactivists to carry down Market Street. We will also have stickers, bracelets, and leaflets available for intactivists to hand out to the parade spectators. Please watch this video to get an idea of what to expect.

Can I bring my own sign?
Yes, any messages against infant circumcision, forced genital cutting, or genital mutilation are welcome. Signs promoting genital autonomy or the human right to genital integrity are also great. The decision whether or not to use graphic images or strong language is up to you. Per San Francisco Pride Parade rules, signs in our contingent cannot advertise businesses or organizations other than Bay Area Intactivists. Please keep in mind that Market Street is extremely wide so be sure that the lettering on your signs is large and bold enough for it to be legible from a distance of at least 30 feet.

Where do we assemble before the parade?
We will assemble on Beale near Mission or on Main near Mission. Please check back closer to the event date for the exact location. We will post our contingent number and assembly location once we have received them from the San Francisco Pride organizers.

What time should I arrive?
Intactivists will begin to assemble at 9:30 am. Please arrive no later than 11:00 am if you plan to march.

How do I get there?
Driving and parking in San Francisco can be very challenging during San Francisco Pride. We recommend taking public transit.

If you are traveling from outside San Francisco, we recommend taking BART. There are several BART stations outside San Francisco where you can park your car. The Embarcadero BART station is closest to where we will assemble before the parade. The Civic Center BART station is closest to where the parade ends as well as our San Francisco Pride booth.

If you are traveling from within San Francisco, we recommend taking the MUNI Metro. The Embarcadero MUNI Metro station is closest to where we will assemble before the parade. The Civic Center MUNI Metro station is closest to where the parade ends as well as our San Francisco Pride booth.

What other Bay Area Intactivists events are taking place during San Francisco Pride?

Where do I ask my question that isn't covered here?
Please contact eve...@bayareaintactivists.org for additional information.

Our Country is the second Sodam and Gomorrah. Sub-humans ruling our great Country. Our National Hymn is being disgraced by Lady Gaga who changed the lyrics to “O say does that star-spangled flag of pride yet wave,”“land of the free, and the home for the gay.” This homosexual behavior in our Country is a disgrace. What we need to do is go back to the bible and God's word. No wonder the whole world hates us, especially the Muslim Nations. This is not the time to be poud to be an American. I am so disgusted with the inmorality of the American people including our Government. God help us

just another side: I was circumsized and its the least of my concerns..I kinda think 1.the federal reserve bank controlling our countries monetary system. 2. Sodium flouride (an admitted drug), in out water supply. 3. IRS was created in 1913 along with the federal reserve bank to control us by the rothchild family banking cartel 4. Marines guarding the opium fields in Afghanistan spreading heroin across the planet, especially the U.S. 5. pay for profit prisons enslaving tens of millions of people. 6. Sending our jobs to Asia. 7. Manipulation and indoctrination by the state owned media and education system to control.. I have 100 more of these but I will stop now. So basically, the little bit of meat they took off my penis is the last of my concerns.
