(NEWBERG, Ore. ) - On Wednesday, at approximately 10:45 p.m., officers from the Newberg-Dundee Police Department responded to Fred Meyer after it was discovered that several handguns were stolen from the store. The guns were for sale in locked display cases prior to the theft. With the help of Fred Meyers loss prevention officers were able to see with security cameras that the handguns were stolen by the suspect shortly after 9:00 p.m. Based on witness and surveillance footage the suspect appears to be a white or Hispanic male adult with a medium build, wearing dark clothes to include a beanie or watch cap. Officers were able to obtain all makes and models and serial numbers of the stolen guns. After taking the guns, the male placed them in a backpack he retrieved off the shelf and left the store through the front door. Once outside the male ran south east through the parking lot toward the bottle return area. No details about how many guns, make, model or value will be released at this time for investigative purposes. Included below is a surveillance photograph of the suspect as well as a photograph of the same backpack that was stolen during the commission of the crime. If anyone has information about this crime please call the Newberg Dundee Police Department at 503-538-8321.
