(ASTORIA, Ore.) - The Coast Guard rescued two brothers, six-years-old and seven-years-old, from a 300-foot ravine at Cape Kiwanda, near Pacific City, Oregon Tuesday.

Coast Guard officials say the mother of the boys called 911 at approximately 12:45 p.m., after the brothers had ventured down to the bottom of the ravine and were unable to find their way back up.

A Coast Guard MH-60 rescue helicopter crew from Group/Air Station Astoria responded to the scene.

The brothers were located and a rescue swimmer was lowered into the ravine and located the brothers and their dog.

It is reported that two Good Samaritans who were familiar with the ravine climbed down to the bottom and briefed the rescue swimmer on a safe route to walk out.

After 15-20 minutes of climbing everyone safely made it back to the top and there were no reports of injuries.
