(SALEM, Ore. ) - Following a championship season in 2013, head men's soccer coach Aaron Lewis has announced his recruiting class of 10 standout players that will join Corban University in the fall of 2014. For Lewis, this is his second official recruiting class while at the helm of the Warriors. "My staff and I believed that this was a critical recruiting year for our program, to be able to build on the success of last year's conference championship, and use that momentum to take another step towards our ultimate goals," Lewis stated. "We felt that bringing in another quality class would enhance the competition within our group, and reinforce our commitment towards continual growth. I am confident that these new additions will fit our team and University culture as we strive to be excellent for the glory of Christ." Josh Noonkester – Midfielder/Defender - St. Martins University – Wash. Noonkester was named First-Team All-Central Valley as a member of the State Champion South Salem Saxons during his senior year in 2009. He was also tabbed an NWAACC All-Star in 2011 when he helped lead the Chemeketa Storm to the NWAACC Championship. Josh most recently started 18 matches for St. Martin's University in 2012. Lewis on Noonkester - "Josh is a strong player that can play a few different positions for us in the fall. His championship experience, field vision, and physical toughness will be a major asset for us right away." J'Rrett Baker – Midfielder – Silverton High School – Ore. Baker was named First-Team All Mid-Willamette Valley Conference and Second-Team All-State for the 5A Silverton Foxes during his senior high school season in 2013. During the Foxes' impressive run, Baker helped lead them to their first state tournament appearance in more than 15 years. He has also played for both the Westside Timbers and Keizer Soccer clubs during his playing career. In addition, Baker won multiple track & field awards throughout his high school career and was the 2009 USATF National Champion in the Javelin. Lewis on Baker - "We have been impressed at what J'Rrett has accomplished both in soccer and track & field. J'Rrett is someone we have followed for some time now and are looking forward to see how he adjusts to the college game." Travez Whyte – Midfielder – St. George's College – Jamaica Whyte played for both Ardenne High School and St. George's College in Kingston, Jamaica. He was selected as the school's top student-athlete while attending Ardenne in 2012, and helped St. George's College to the St. George's and Ropa Cup Championships in 2013. Whyte competed for the Real Mona Football Club in Kingston. Lewis on Whyte - "Travez is fast, sees the field well, and has a soft first touch. He has competed in big games in his country, and he has the talent to become a significant player in our program over the next four years." Cedar Robertson – Defender – Minarets High School – Calif. Robertson was named to the West Sequoia League First-Team during his junior and senior seasons at Minarets High School. He also played for the Madera Brick Wall United soccer club based in Madera, CA. Lewis on Robertson – "Cedar is smart, competitive, and has an obvious passion for our game. The staff and I looking forward to seeing where he can take his game at the collegiate level." Peirce Dunn – Defender – King's Way Christian School – Wash. Dunn attended Kings Way Christian High School in Vancouver, where he participated in four varsity sports. Dunn was a major contributor on his Washington Timbers club team, helping them reach the Washington State Premier final. Lewis on Dunn – "Peirce understands the game well and puts himself in good positions to make plays. We are excited to add another left-footed player, who is comfortable playing multiple positions within our back line." Miguel Naves- Forward/Midfielder – Central Valley High School – Wash. Naves led the Central Valley Bears to a 13-3 overall record and was named to the Greater Spokane League First-Team. He was also the leading scorer on the Washington East Club team that qualified for the 2014 national tournament in Denver, Colo. Lewis on Naves – "Miguel is a skillful player that adds to our team's technical ability, and has the skillset to score goals at the collegiate level. Some of Miguel's most valuable attributes are his work ethic and desire to compete. Miguel has it in him to develop into a leader for our program in the not so distant future." Iliya Zhividze - Forward/Midfielder – Evergreen High School – Wash. Zhividze has competed for coach Keenan Burris at Evergreen High School for several seasons. Zhividze most recently converted the game winning penalty during the penalty-kick shootout, to help the U-18 Washington Timbers Reds win the state club final. Lewis on Zhividze – "Iliya is quick, hardworking, and can run all day. We think that with his physical tools, natural left foot, and strong work ethic, he has the potential to develop into a weapon in our conference." Jesse Kirkendall – Defender – Mt. View High School – Wash. Kirkendall played for Mountain View High school for three years and was a teammate of Iliya on the U-18 Washington Timbers team that won the club state championship this past spring. Lewis on Kirkendall – "Jesse has played with good teams for many years. He is physically strong and knows the game of soccer well. He is going to provide depth for us within our defending and midfield lines." Clement Dushimimana – Midfielder/Forward – Canyonville Christian Academy – Rwanda Dushimimana was born in Kigali, Rwanda where he grew up playing soccer. He participated in the Rwandan youth national system at the U-15 and U-17 levels. While at Canyonville Christian academy, he helped lead the Pilots to multiple state tournament appearances, and was named the Special District No. 2's Player of the Year his senior season. Lewis on Dushimimana – "Clement has scored lots of goals at the high school level. His athleticism and competitiveness made him successful in high school, and we are optimistic he can create havoc for defenses in the coming years. Shane Whitehead- GK - North Marion High School – Ore. Shane led North Marion to four-consecutive high school state tournament appearances and was an All-League recipient in a quality Tri-Valley Conference. Lewis on Whitehead – "Shane makes good decisions and demonstrates a fearlessness that comes with being a good goalkeeper. We are pleased to add another quality player to a solid goalkeeping core." Corban begins its 2014 campaign with a pair of scrimmages against Chemeketa CC on August 13. Kickoffs at Warrior Field are scheduled for 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Source: Corban Athletics
