Officials Hope to Identify Woman's Body Found in River (PHOTOS)

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Investigators in Multnomah County say that on May 31st 2009, the remains of an unidentified female were discovered in the Willamette River.

Multnomah County Sheriff's Office detectives say they are working with the State Medical Examiner's Office in attempting to identify this person.

They also hope that somebody might recognize that items that were recovered on the woman's body. They hope to establish leads that will help in identifying this person.

The woman is possibly Caucasian, she was between the ages of 50 and 60, and stood about five foot three.

She had graying hair with 12" braid in back of head.

The woman was wearing a blue hooded sweat shirt with white and light blue ribbing at the neck and sleeves, as shown in the accompanying photo. She was also wearing the jewelry shown in the other photo.

Detectives say this person had been in the river for at least 6 months and could have been in the river for up to 1 year or more.
