(CLEVELAND, Ohio) - Ohio Congressman Dennis Kucinich's re-election website was shut down this morning by a series of suspicious and fast-moving events several hours after Kucinich introduced 35 Articles of Impeachment against President George W. Bush. Andy Juniewicz with the Kucinich Campaign says that until the site is up and running again, the full list and text of the Articles are available at democrats.com/files/amomentoftruth.pdf and chun.afterdowningstreet.org/amomentoftruth.pdf Juniewicz says Kucinich website managers and staff were beginning to post detailed information about the Articles and related news stories on the website early this morning when they noticed irregularities - possibly external tampering - with various private and protected codes used to format information and to create links to photos, videos, and external websites. Within less than two hours, the entire site was non-functional. The problems struck at a time when the website was receiving an estimated 100,000-plus hits per hour from visitors seeking additional information about the Articles of Impeachment. That volume should have been manageable, campaign officials said. The campaign issued a statement this morning saying, "The response to Congressman Kucinich's bold and meticulously documented presentation of the case against the President has been overwhelmingly positive and powerful. Emails, phone calls, and text messages have been pouring in all day from supporters." Campaign officials are continuing to work on restoring the website and implementing additional security measures. Kucinich's web site team is composed of the biggest group of unorganized incompetents you can imagine. Those of us who wanted to help Kucinich's campaign were constantly frustrated by his teams inability to get shite done.I don't believe their site was hacked. those clowns don't have a clue. Gail, I told the webmaster that I would personally pay for and install a better forum on the site. I have a resume with 10 years of experience in IT, working for companies as big as ExxonMobil and Dell Computer Japan, and as small as local restaurants. Whoever is responsible for running the site could find the help the site needs among the members of the site. This is what I mean when I said they the people running the site have become a liability. They are not harnessing the power of the web. There are plenty of people on the forum, like me, complaining that they'd like to help and they no one has contacted them. The have been complaining for months and months that the website if not meeting their needs. If whoever if running the site doesn't have time for it, then should have invited assistance and delegated authority. By failing to do that, they are doing Mr. Kucinich a grave disservice. Just like how you've been censoring my comments on the site, I'm sure you'll prevent this message from having an audience. I'll be mailing a copy as well, hopefully I can get though to someone who wants to fix the problem instead of cover them up and make excuses for incompetency. M -----Original Message----- From: information@kucinich.us [mailto:information@kucinich.us] Sent: Friday, June 29, 2007 9:45 PM Subject: Re: [General] FIRE YOUR WEBMASTER Thank you for your comments, Max. While I regret the annoyance our website has cause you, I do not support your demand regarding our webmaster. Like me, she is a volunteer who has been volunteering at kucinich.us for over three years. We are lucky to have her, Max. Our problems are not about the webmaster. They are about the website. The website and forum we had during the 2004 campaign and the re-elect years could be effectively webmastered and moderated. The current website/forum can not. We have some excellent tech people who are trying to help with all this. However, most of them our volunteers as well with other paying jobs they must attend to. Our candidate, Dennis, refuses to accept any corporate money. Many of the people who support him are among the poor. Dennis is not a wealthy person. We simply do not have the money to do some of the things we were trying to do, in my opinion. Hopefully, we will be able to get our old forum back and truly facilitate communications among those who come to our website. The only forum posts we have been censoring are porn, spam or advertising which is not permitted on campaign websites for congress members. Dennis has supporters who are children. I am an early childhood special education teacher. I do not want little kids exposed to the porn that some people/robots? try to put on our website. I apologize to you, Max, if our campaign has offended you by not publishing your series of negative and critical posts regarding our website. We are trying to improve our situation. We know we have problems. Beating us over the head with them will not help. Besides, we are the peace folks and we don't support beatings of any kind. Greg et al: Thank you for your kind, comprehensive and professional response --which, I believe, now proves up precisely what this S-N open, honest --and democratic --channel should provide: LEARNING for each of us. Your participation now gives us ALL a sure-resource to see and understand what's really happening in Internet, and to prove up, too, what we must do to continue building its full protection for open dialog. At S-N, some of us have felt for a long time that we were under intentional attack, for what we try to do and how we try to do it. Your pro-study and valuable report to us here makes that feeling nearly a sure thing --AND adds to determination to continue, strengthen, expand and grow --since "attack" doth prove up we pinching somebody somewheres, enough to hurt and demand damaging "attack". Thank you, sir, with surely now-due full respect for your courageous action to report.

Henry, it was my opinion. Didn't realize I had to bring qualifications along, but here we go. I am a professional (meaning I get paid) social bookmarker for a little website called Propeller.com. I'm also a top 30 user of the aforementioned website called digg.com. I also participate on reddit and various other social news sites. Dennis Kucinich's website made the front page of digg and reddit yesterday and it was my professional opinion that his website merely suffered from the digg effect after having made the front page. Having also had my own personal website front page on digg, I can attest to the fact that most webhosts assume that your site is under some form of attack because the amount of traffic short-term, that is driven to your site, is phenomenal and out of the norm. It looks identical to an attack until some further "investigations" happen.

Thank you for covering this article, it is very disappointing that other so-called major news outlets do not have the courage to do what you have done. I've already asked the Oregonian why they refuse to cover this, I'm so proud that you chose to cover this very important article.

Steev et al; Never pretended to be other than geeky oldster re Internet; but read Greg's as assessment via someone with special qualifications, thus needing to so-specify. Just re-read and see nothing now to disabuse "normal" reader (for which I may not qualify here !) from that impression. Usual-practice of challenge often then draws additional information, probably useful in dialog channel. Nothing here to inhibit clear, complete Comment, but might note need to specify, for reader's better acceptance of Comment, when that doth exist. For us suspicious-ones, when missing it, by very high probability, relates to those many-few (take choice !) who pretend here for portentous purpose, and can never show "see with eyes" back-up when then challenged. To Greg, thank you for your participation, and it IS now really appreciated, esp. since it evoked further fact from friend Steev...so "that ain't ALL bad !'

Henry, Greg's comment was something that is being reported all the time that is happening all over the net. China is constantly making probes into our different government agencies, as per different news services. Why does one need a professional certificate, or whatever, to simply re-state current happenings? Thanks
Henry Ruark June 11, 2008 7:53 am (Pacific time)
Greg et al: Miss any professional qualification by your for your supposedly reliable information. If you had stated it, with checkable ref., then we might pay a bit more attention. With recent solid public record of invasion of such channels, and our own experience here with paid shills, operating as extension of neocon noise machine, and with constant exchange of notes among many private users, as in my Comment, there is surely solid reason for Tim's solid report. Others off-channel have now confirmed my experience in early Comment, so will be looking for still more-such for further exploration, with detailed-story perhaps now developing re Internet surveillance already in place and operating for same purposes as phone and other surveillance already known. OR do you wish to simply listen for the "knock on door" which may well be on the way to YOU, too ??

Your title seems to be a bit misleading. There is nothing "suspicious" about making the front page of social news sites like Digg or Reddit, which the Kucinich website did. The traffic from digg alone has taken *many* websites offline for hours at a time with many webhosts thinking that the website is suffering from a DDOS type attack. This was nothing more than a HUGE amount of traffic redirected from some of the biggest social news sites in existence....nothing suspicious here...move along.

I have only faint hope that there are very many Democrats who will exhibit the courage to support Dennis; I have re-registered as a Green b/c my faith is so weak.

Bravo to Tim for the courage to report on what SHOULD be in 7 inch high lettering on the front page of all papers. We should all be supporting such a patriot as Kucinich - who is not intimidated by the "powers that be." It is a shame that the rest of our elected officials are still in search of such courage. Our country is bankrupt now, in the eyes of the world, in terms of respect, thanks to the policies of our current administration. I support Kucinich in his quest for justice.

When he was running for prez he said he saw an "Alien", and not of the border crossing type. Maybe they did it, hey he might even be a pod person. Bring Dennis back you ET's!

Odd parallel here to sudden departure-defeat for Tim's still upcoming trip-again to Iraq... Could it possibly be that open, honest, demo-dialog and similar channels are NOW under closed-source surveillance, subject to sudden situations such as this ? In a free nation, ostensibly under Constitutionally-set and guaranteed protections ? But considerably tattered, as we are finding out daily... First step for any fascistic dictator is control of the so-called "free press", by whatever means; then cometh any other channels protecting and providing further open dissent, discussion and whatever else is demanded for possible steps beyond verbal dissent. Are we nearing that second crucial situation ? Can we expect S-N to be next in line for such open attack ? Stay tuned --the liberties you thus protect may well be the strongest you still have at the ready... Come to recall, eMac here has provided note stating presence of possible intrusion by programs seeking control. Anyone else having anything similar ??
