(EUGENE, Ore.) - I am proud to announce, in partnership with Salem-News, the launch of Oregon Voters’ Voice (www.oregonvotersvoice.org).

Oregon Voters’ Voice is a non-partisan, all volunteer, informal political organization created to provide an open forum for Oregonians to express their views on critical political issues, and organize to draft and submit arguments for placement in the Oregon Voters’ Pamphlet.

Any Oregon Voter can register for free on the site and publish information, opinion, and arguments concerning candidates for office and ballot measures.

The website allows users to vote and comment on all posts. The goal of the site is provide a forum where Oregonians can reach consensus on important issues, and then share that consensus with the entire State, in the form of arguments in the Voters’ Pamphlet.

OVV is strictly non-partisan, and it is open to all Voters, regardless of political views. OVV is an informal group, and does not accept any money donations. Period.

It is no secret that our political process is dominated by the two major parties and by paid advocacy groups. My belief, which is shared by many, is that a political process dominated by financial interest cannot serve the needs of our State.

On a host of issues, from taxes, jobs, the economy, health care, and war, to immigration, medical marijuana, and Israel/Palestine, the true democratic consensus of the people of this State is muted, while the policies and views of well financed special interests are amplified.

The perversion of our political process by financial interest has resulted in waste, inefficiency, corruption, and a state of perpetually escalating crisis.

The goal of Oregon Voters’ Voice is to take immediate and effective political action now by bringing together Oregonians from outside of the “pay-to-play” political process and amplifying their views and opinions in our State’s political discourse.

Our goal is to draft and agree upon arguments on major issues and candidates within the next two months, and then collect the signatures necessary to place them in the Oregon Voters’ Pamphlet by August 24. For Statewide offices and measures 500 signatures are required, and for local candidates and measures, 300 signatures are required.

We will be holding a barbeque and gathering at my home in Eugene on the afternoon of Saturday June 26. Everyone is invited, so please keep the date open, and I will be announcing more information about the event in the week prior to it.
