(McMINNVILLE, Ore. ) - Police in McMinnville are searching for a suspect who tried to rob a home on Thursday. Police were called at about 11:40 a.m., to a report of an interrupted burglary at 325 SE College Avenue in McMinnville. According to the complainant, he came home and found a male attempting to remove items from the residence. The male fled out the back of the residence toward the Cozine Creek and the complainant attempted to detain him. They struggled for a short period of time before the suspect was able to pull out a screwdriver and threatened to stab the complainant. The complainant backed off and the male fled through the Cozine Creek area. Based on observations from some neighborhood witnesses and the route he appeared to take, the male should have significant scratches from blackberries and other plants. The suspect is also likely to have some facial injuries from the scuffle with the complainant. The complainant described the suspect as a skinny white male adult about 5' 10", and approximately 30-years-old, with short dark brown hair. He was last seen wearing black shorts and a black shirt Police would like to remind everyone to make sure their doors and windows are locked or secured when they leave their residence. It is also beneficial to get to know your neighbors so that each you can watch out for each other and recognize if a person does not belong at a residence.
