Silverton Man Arrested After Killing Neighbors Dog

This is still an active investigation and the Sheriff's Office is seeking witnesses who may have seen the events that took place on May 27th or possibly May 26th.

(SILVERTON, Ore. ) - A Silverton man was arrested after allegedly shooting and killing his neighbors dog.

Deputies say 69-year-old Monty Dale Fisher is accused of shooting and killing a 1 ?1/2 year old male, Alaskan Husky named Xavier, on May 27th at approximately 2:00 p.m., in the 10400 block of Hazelgreen Road NE.

Fisher has maintained that he was defending livestock when he shot the dog. However, deputies located witnesses who stated the dog was not chasing live stock at the time it was shot.

This is still an active investigation and the Sheriff's Office is seeking witnesses who may have seen the events that took place on May 27th or possibly May 26th.

Fisher is charged with one count of Frist Degree Aggravated Animal Abuse.

Fisher has been released from custody, and his next court appearance is July 3rd.
