(SALEM, Ore.) - Marion County deputies say they nabbed a burglar in the act of removing items from a Salem home in the early hours of Saturday morning. According to Commander Jason Myers with the Marion County Sheriff's Office, Deputies Lance Weitman and Bob Arnsmeier were dispatched to a residential alarm at a home on Inland Drive S. in Salem at 1:04 AM. "The alarm company initially reported that a motion sensor had been activated inside the home which triggered the alarm," Myers says deputies arrived at the scene to find 24-year old Sean T. Kirk of Salem inside the residence. "After detaining Mr. Kirk, deputies searched the home with a K-9 and discovered that he had gained entry though the garage, climbed into the attic, cut a hole in the ceiling of the bathroom, and entered the living area via the hole in the bathroom ceiling." He says Kirk was in the process of gathering items from the house when Deputies apprehended him. Kirk was charged with first-degree Burglary, 2 counts of first-degree Criminal Mischief, and parole violation. Kirk is currently in custody at the Marion County Jail on the mentioned charges. Myers says the home owner or owners, were not at the location when this incident occurred.
