(MOLALLA, Ore.) - When I heard this dolt pontificating on television news that Autism was the result of bad parenting, I nearly threw-up. This totally absurd ranting was settled more than 50 years ago. Dr. Lendon Smith, a prominent pediatrician in Portland, Oregon, discovered that low doses of amphetamines helped many autistic patients. Subsequent research indicated that Butyrophenones and Ritalin helped aggressive states but parents are still praying for some relief for these "children from hell". Behavioral therapy helps some but a friend of mine whose son was autistic, and reasonably controllable until he became six foot tall at 200 pounds, still had explosive, uncontrolled fits which ultimately resulted in him having to be institutionalized. Please God, help his caretakers. Michael Savage obviously never confronted an autistic child or adult and although he supposedly majored in Medical History, whatever that is, he apparently missed this important chapter completely. What he has done is probably beneficial to the parents and caretakers of autistic children by again focusing on this terrible heart rending problem. California Medical Marijuana doctors first reported that marijuana cookies helped some of these Autistic, ADD and ADHD victims. It is time for more drug trials. This would be helpful to thousands of patients and their grief-torn parents and caretakers. Jenny McCarthy responds to Savage's remarks: Jenny, alongside the many others who have had their lives impacted by autism, was appalled by the statement. What would she like to happen? “I think a great way for an apology is to be sat down and educated about it,” Jenny said. “I’d love to just quietly [sit down with him and] educate him on the facts. It was clear he doesn’t know anything about autism” http://www.causecast.org/news_items/4463

I listened to the show and I am a parent of a severely autistic child. He has both parents and I was and am still pissed off about it. I think that he should just be taken off the air if he cannot think before he speaks

Michael Savage said, in his exact words: "autism is the "illness du jour" and children do not have a father around to tell them to stop acting like a "putz." "You know what autism is? I'll tell you what autism is," according to a copy of the broadcast captured on mediamatters.org. "In 99 percent of the cases, it's a brat who hasn't been told to cut the act out. That's what autism is." How can that be taken out of context??

I would say at least 99 percent of the people who complain did not listen to the show. If you are actually a person who can think for yourself, go to Michael Savage wesite and actually listen to what was said. Then you will find out that he did not say anything bad about Children with Autism. He talked about the misdiagnosed children. But if you are so brainwashed that you believe everthing the liberal Media feeds you. I guess you will not take the time to really find out the truth
