Wildfire Burning Near I-84 in Columbia River Gorge

Traffic along I-84 is moving slowly as motorists try to get through the smoke-filled stretch of highway.

(HOOD RIVER, Ore.) - Fire crews are battling a wildfire in the Columbia River Gorge that began when a tire came off a trailer and rolled into some dry grass and sparked flames.

The fire, currently at 20 acres, is located between Hood River and Mosier.

Hood River Fire has called in for air support to try to douse the flames.

The Oregon Department of Forestry has called the wildfire the Coburg Fire.

Mark Hatfield State Park has been evacuated as a precaution.

Traffic along I-84 is moving slowly as motorists try to get through the smoke-filled stretch of highway.

ODOT says delays could be as long as two hours.
