(BEND, Ore. ) - Oregon State Police arrested a Bend-area man Wednesday on charges related to an April 2007 fatal traffic crash on Highway 22 in Mill City. The man was transported to Salem where he was lodged in Marion County Jail for Manslaughter in the Second Degree and Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants. OSP Sergeant Eric Brown arrested 30-year-old John Eric Young, from Bend, at his residence without incident. The arrest followed an investigation into a fatal crash on April 18th at 6:10 PM in which Young was the driver of an Isuzu Rodeo eastbound on Highway 22 when it crossed into the westbound lanes and collided head-on with a westbound Toyota Tacoma pickup driven by 51-year-old James Kline, from Gates. Kline died the next day from injuries sustained in the crash. A female passenger in the pickup suffered non-life threatening injuries. Young was seriously injured in the April fatal crash.
