(TILLAMOOK, Ore. ) - If you need a good laugh this Saturday morning, than this news story is just for you!

A 20-year-old Milwaukie, Oregon resident was arrested during a traffic stop along Highway 101 in Tillamook County after he tried to bribe an OSP trooper to tear-up his ticket.

Oregon State Police spokesman Lt. Gregg Hastings says the trooper witnessed a Mitsubishi Lancer displaying Oregon license plates on Highway 101 near milepost 79 after observing it pass another vehicle in a no passing zone marked with double solid center lines just after 2:00 p.m. Friday.

After pulling the vehicle over, the trooper identified the driver as Austen Corno. The trooper then returned to the patrol car and completed a citation for Passing in a No Passing Zone, a traffic violation with a listed fine of $260 on the citation, Hastings said.

When the trooper returned and explained the citation to Corno and how to contact the court, Corno allegedly displayed a large amount of cash and offered the trooper $360 to tear the citation up.

The trooper then arrested Corno for Bribe Giving (ORS 162.015), a class B felony.

According to the statute, "a person commits bribe giving if the person offers, confers or agrees to confer any pecuniary benefit upon a public servant with the intent to influence the public servants vote, opinion, judgment, action, decision or exercise of discretion in an official capacity."

Corno was booked into the Tillamook County Jail.
