(EUGENE, Ore. ) - Christian Brennan finished seventh among the best junior quarter-milers in the world at the 2014 IAAF World Junior Championships, Friday, in front of 8,937 track and field faithful at Hayward Field.

Brennan, who advanced to the final with a clutch performance on Thursday, finished the 400 in 54.15.

Although the Oregon freshman noted she was hoping for a better time, she accomplished her goal of getting the chance to run in the final in front of her home crowd while representing her native country of Canada.

“I really just went out and did what I could,” Brennan said. “I didn’t particularly get the time I wanted but I know I did my best so at the end of the day that’s all I can really do.”

Oregon incoming freshman Ariana Washington ran the second leg on the USA women’s 4x100-meter relay team which won its heat in 44.03 seconds. The time held up as the top-qualifying mark among all competitors with Saturday’s final slated for 5:20 p.m.
