(MT. HOOD, Ore.) - The Clackamas County Sheriffs Office Search and Rescue Team along with Portland Mountain Rescue, Mountain Wave and Timberline lodge employees responded to a fallen climber on Mt. Hood just below the summit.

Deputy Scott Meyers with the Clackamas County Sheriffs Office says the snow conditions made the rescue more challenging, and a National Guard helicopter was called in to lift the climber out.

He says the subject is 40-year old old who may have a broken leg and other cuts and bruises.

Other climbers were with him and they had the GPS coordinates, Meyers said.

The Oregon National Guard Helicopter brought the injured climber off the mountain. He had sustained non life threatening injuries.

Meyers says there is nothing further to add at this time and the rescue was completed successfully and the patient has been taken to Emanuel.
