(VANCOUVER, Wash.) - Vancouver Police Corporal Chris LeBlanc was shot Wednesday night during a SWAT operation at a residence in Southeast Vancouver.

This morning Corporal LeBlanc underwent surgery. Police Spokesperson Kim Kapp says he is currently recovering.

"All indications from the medical staff are that he came through the surgery just fine and is doing well."

Kapp says Corporal LeBlanc was hired by the Vancouver Police Department in April 1997, and promoted from the rank of Police Officer to Corporal in November 2006.

He was most recently assigned to the Special Operations Division after working in patrol for most of his career with the Vancouver Police Department.
