(BAGHDAD) - The Department of Defense has announced the death of another Oregon soldier in the war in Iraq. 29-year old Jason M. Evey of Stockton, Calif., died of injuries sustained when his Bradley Fighting Vehicle came in contact with an improvised explosive device during combat operations in Baghdad, Iraq, on July 16th. The Bradley struck the explosive around 4:35 PM Saturday. Evey attended Corvallis High School where he graduated with the class of 1995. He spent much of his life growing up in Salem. He had attained the rank of Staff Sergeant with the U.S. Army. He was assigned to the Army's 1st Squadron, 10th Calvary Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, Fort Hood Texas.
